You’re a little late, and she’s way ahead. She’s David Banner, and in this case you’re the fumbling reporter who overslept in bed. Catch her if you can! But she’s Leo in that movie, and you’re Tom Hanks. She’s so brilliant and beautiful, you don’t stand a chance! By the time you see her, she’s moved onto the next thing! You’d be exploring a Hyatt while she’s at the Taco Bell Hotel! If she could get in! If you dialed in her place to place a reservation, and they said no, you’d find yourself saying, “Um, this is a little embarrassing, but do you *know* who this is??” The most beautiful girl in the world! The most important woman who’s ever been! You’ll probably never catch her, and that’s fine. If you’re the bumbling reporter, or even Tom Hanks, you’ve already rewritten the role. All you really want to do is catch a glimpse of her light. She’s the North Star, at Christmas she is the North Pole. Today you kinda blew it! In my stocking there’s a lump of coal. But you keep going! It’s what you do. I knew this sleep thing was overrated! It’s gotten me into trouble. Why take the twenty-two percent chance I’ll see her in my dreams, than the forty-four percent one she’ll be somewhere on the scene. In real life, where she’s a living dream. In a dark olive dress, her hair looking as if it were digitally colored by a Disney exec, because nobody *that* beautiful actually *really* exists. Her lips and those eyes! Her smile that defies. Oh, yes, she does! And she is! Breathtaking in every way. You’re in this wonderful dilemma. You get more attention now than you ever did before, and maybe you flirt a little, then turn everyone down, every time. You’re waiting on a dream that will never come through. And you know it, too. You’re taking a fool’s chance! You’re on a fool’s errand. But really there’s no choice to be made. You know hell from heaven! And it’s her. She’s an absolute vision! Looking straight out of 1955! Like the girl you had a crush on when you were eleven in “My Favorite Year.” You’re Mark Linn-Baker chasing her around. In his case, he actually lands her! Somehow he does it with Chinese food! But you don’t have his writers! This story is never going down! But you don’t care! It’s like you’re on a mission and your people ask you gravely, “What are the chances?” And you say in your best dramatic Hollywood style, “Close to none.” But when asked if it’s the mission you choose, you reply – a bit like Eastwood or Ah-nold (you’re shooting for an Oscar here), “It’s the only one.” Because she’s the only one! She brandishes the sky! There’s never been anyone like her! You compare her to silly examples just to get a feeling across. She teased a “Help Wanted” a week ago for this coming one! You remember those littlest things. So you knew you should be looking! But after putting in long hours, by Friday morning you were asleep! The idea of missing her is like missing that golden train! That one that almost never passes this way. The one you wanted to board with all your essence! With every cell of your presence! And yet your alarm clock didn’t go off while you slept through the night. And all your dreams are fleeting. And yet it’s really all okay. Everything’s fine. You don’t worry over choices made, or missed opportunities. Because your heart is beaming so exuberantly. When she marries the luckiest man on earth, and you look back over your own kinda-sorta ghosting of those who wanted in, you’ll say, “It was meant to be this way.” There’s nothing to regret. Because she gives you so much more, even if you’ve never met. She’s the diamond out of the rough. She’s the glimmering needle in the haystack. How could you *not* be in love with her? That wouldn’t make any sense! How could you blame yourself? For falling for her charms. Everyone does! If you could lift her in even the very smallest way, then you’ve done your part. It’s all you really want to do. Imagine if she actually called you? That’s when the “AH!!” would ensue. Like in those old movies where the girl says, “Hello?” into that 1950s telephone, and the absolute dream is on the other end. And she in melodramatic style drops the phone and faints! I’ve padded the floors here just in case that ever happens. You can never be too safe! But you certainly don’t expect it to. At the very least Jakey appreciates it. And, Ah!! It’s boots and dark nylons *again*!! That olive dress that’s form fitting so well. You’ve died and gone to heaven. So many times God says, “You again?!” Hourglass and you’ve lost track of hours. She is a goddess of the highest calibre, the greatest strength, she blazes a path between heaven and hell, being heaven sent. She saves you from yourself. She is beauty that you have never ever seen. You know you never will again. Maybe someday when you’re old, maybe when this is something only seen in the rear view, there’ll be some other kind of love. But unlike in her report, there’s no “help wanted” sign now. You turn them away, there’s a no vacancy sign at this hotel. But you leave a candle in one window. Just in case she ever sees. That flickering light that yearns to return to her, your greatest flame. And she burns so bright. Everybody loves her. Her smile and a nod. There’s such grace in her. She’s a firecracker, and she’s serene. She’s endearing, and she’s a dream. With her alabaster arms, her freshly painted nails in red, her earrings that literally dance and glimmer! As if to say, “A-ha! Look where *we* are! Don’t you wish you were?” She moves effortlessly among it all. There’s *so* much to see! She’s a living parade! An amusement park of thrills. And a sacred church where you retreat. A convent on a hill. She is where you find your respite. When your soul needs to know. What it is that beauty is. To recharge your inner being from her glow. She lights the day! She expands the space! She’s every woman you could ever know, all fused into one, taking only the very best qualities. She is a masterpiece. She’s the template. She’s the Platonic form. Her golden train doesn’t pass by this way very often. But you pitch your tent by the side of the tracks. It’s the fact you know she exists at all that has upended how you act. How you perceive. You were living in this little world and everything seemed just okay. But upon seeing her, you’ve discovered Pandora’s box, and you simply can’t put it all back in! You can’t unlearn what you’ve learned. You can’t un-know what you know. The most stunning spectacular bemusing and beguiling woman is real! She doesn’t just exist in a dream! She’s out there, in the world! Living like you and me! She’s Christmastime and ornaments and the gift that most excites, placed beneath the tree! She lights your heart. She excites your senses. She’ll blow your mind! She’s the storm that wipes away all fences. She wakes you up inside. She’s a vision. *The* vision! How do you put that aside? Well, the answer is you don’t. You take it all inside. She makes you come alive! Isn’t that enough? Well, the answer is yes. “Yes!” a million times over! She’s wonderful. Let destiny do its thing. Let the world spin. While you watch the wheels go round and round. You follow her star in the sky, like a boy with his telescope. In the stillness, honoring her. On a quiet blessed night. So what if a cloud comes along? You’re singing in the rain! You’re in love! You’re a little late, and she is way ahead. Her voice! Her style! Her effervescence! The way she wears a dress! The way she dons a watch! But the dress wears her! So does the watch! Her grace and her ease! Oh, the way she nods when she says “Certainly!” Oh, the way she turns her head! She’s turned so many others! Hospitals are reporting an influx of whiplash! She is class and exuberance. She is docile and secure. She’s all of that, and I promise she is so so *so* much more! She’s Christmas come early, she’s a holiday every day. She’s the golden girl, she’s the ultimate thrill! And that’s just this morning! All before you wake! Look at all she’s done while you’ve slept! Here’s a little secret: You dreamed of her, anyway! So you got a double dose! Of her!! The real world and dream time meeting, this cataclysmic double bill! Just a girl? Just a woman, somebody says?? You take on your inner Fonzie when he replies, “And I suppose your mother was just a mother!” She’s the mothership! She does everything listed here and more! She is stunning, she is breathtaking. She’ll grab your heart and pick up your soul with her brilliant light and reset it! All of this, and you realize something. It’s not even lunchtime yet! Who knows what else she has in store? You never sell her short. She’s a long playing record! The most beguiling, spectacular, brilliant and magnificent woman in the world! And she is just getting started! ❤️
