Some days you’re tired and you just don’t see the point. Feeling like all your bells and whistles are being taken away, one by one. But carry on. There’s something good at the end. You had your day of self-pity. You remembered old insults by people you’d never allow in your life again. Instead of absorbing them, you fought back against them, defending yourself. You’ve become your own best friend. You’re a good friend to have in your corner. No one finer ever existed. Certainly nobody more loyal. You’re a good friend to have. You’ll rise up again, and this time even higher. You’ve done it before, won’t it be fun to do it again? Life’s a game, you win when you’re happier. You lose old friends along the way. A dog, a bird, an old horse who knew the very sound of your name. You go on along in tribute of them. Perhaps there are pearly gates and you’ll see your old pals, waiting with a wag and a hug, it’s good to be together again. But while you’re here, won’t it be fun to make use of the space. To better yourself, and at times spread a little grace. No need to get so serious over it all. Nature has a sense of humor. You can see it in the flower’s colors, you observe it in a squirrel’s demeanor. If nature can laugh, so can you. You’re only passing through. Spread that smile a little longer, before the play is over. Take a deep breath and cast off whatever isn’t helping you. Sometimes the training wheels are taken off the bicycle before you think you’re ready, but fearful you wobble along and before you know it, you’re gliding. Spread a little love, and don’t worry what comes back. You did a good thing. Somewhere there’s a ledger in the world’s DNA that keeps track. Whether you’re remembered or forgotten, it’s acknowledged and recorded, somewhere deep in the fabric. Something beyond human comprehension. Let go, let go, let go. And soon enough you’re floating. It’s good to love. It’s good to give. It’s good to forgive all hurts on the ledger. It’s good to think of old friends and make a toast to the hereafter. What a spectacular symphony of colors and sound. Of love, and of light. You wouldn’t know the light without the darkness. So carry on. If you’re tired, all the more reason. Rest and if you wake, you’ll know. There’s more rubber on the tires. Don’t leave the vehicle until all that’s left are the fenders. That way you’ll know it was a life fully lived with hopes and desires. Don’t hurt anyone along the way. If you have, apologize and mean it. Forgive yourself, and put it away. The past is gone, so there’s no reason you should carry it. There’s nothing there to carry. Except the love that’s been strung along. Like telephone wires invisible but you feel them. You wouldn’t have had it any other way, but to participate in the play. The good news is you’re still in it. You’re only limited by your imagination. You’re only held back by your fears. Keep pedaling, but this time put your feet up in the air as you glide down a hill. That’s the funnest part! It’s the grinding uphill that’s the slog. Be happy you’ve got a bike at all. Be happy there’s a vehicle that carries you. Look out at the horizon. There’s so much more there than whatever is limiting your mind. Feel the wonder. And your heart will follow. If you’re tired today, that’s okay. There’s still tomorrow. Imagine all the wonderful dreams that will enter between then and now, that magical placeholder that separates reality daily. Things will come to you and quickly be forgotten as you wake. But something inside carries them and guides you. In these forgotten dreams you have nightly. You’re carried more than you know. Do your part to smile and let go. There’s nothing that you need that you haven’t been given. Don’t do it for recognition. Don’t do it for glory. Do it to please the part inside you that sees more than what we’re seeing. Celebrate the mystery and wonder. Feel it. It’s all around you. And, isn’t it wonderful to feel tired? That means you’ll soon be dreaming. And tomorrow you’ll invent new ways of living. And of being. Won’t it be fun to do it again? This time you’ll do it better, and go farther. With a smile in your heart, you’re the very best friend to have in your corner. Some would say, the best of all. ❤️
Hang in there, you’re loved!
